Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your classmates. In your response, discuss what aspects of an effective, motivating classroom environment can increase the opportunities for students to be creative in the classroom. Be sure to also respond to any questions that your instructor might pose. This discussion post will continue into Week Three.
Your passion about teaching your students and their creativity is reflected in your post! I liked your example of an every day sort of assignment for children where creativity shines through! I’m sure this happens everyday with assignments where interpretation is assigned to the students. I am not a teacher, therefore I value your input and experience on the topic!
What kind of environment do you find your students display the most creativity? I am curious… Newman (2013) gives many factors that attribute to a learning environment. Do you find that your class has more creativity under certain environments or teaching method? One example would be having mostly academic learning time where the student is engaged and relating the lesson material to the real world (Ch.4.7, para. 8). Have you noticed in lessons that are mostly student-focused, where students are more independent and responsible for their learning (Ch.4.3, para. 1), that your students have more creativity?
